Iowa Porkchops

My best replica of Grandma McCarty's pork chops and rice!
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 cup water
3/4 cup rice
4 pork chops
Brown chops on the stove top.
Combine soup, water, and rice then pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
Place the chops on top. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Cover and bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
(Time will depend on the thickness of your chops so check them for doneness!)

Here's Dad's version:
Brown the pork chops in a dry pan. Pour on a can of cream of mushroom soup, about a half a can of milk, a bunch of canned or jarred mushrooms (drained) and pepper. Let it simmer for hours. He usually makes it at lunch and it simmers until supper. We serve it with mashed potatoes. It was alwasy my birthday meal - even in 95 degree heat it sounds good.
